The 21st century librarian and web 2.0 technologies.
The 21st century librarian should be a digital native who is innovative, autonomous and a critical thinker.The librarian should be able to adapt to change of technologies and adopt the web 2.0 technologies in disseminating information to the library users.The advent of of web 2.0 technologies have created digital libraries and therefore a librarian should be able to go beyond the walls of libraries and have the expertise of commodifying knowledge.The librarian should able to impart life-long skills through the manipulation of web 2.0 technologies.
Use of web 2.0 technologies.
Web 2.0 technologies offer various platforms of sharing, storing and disseminating information over the web and internet.The development of these technologies have created easy communication across borders and easy flow of information.However, the use of these technologies is dependent on individuals who are not technophobic and are willing to adapt to changes.The use these technologies in the 21st century has resulted in thee coining of new terms like the digital natives and the digital gap/ divide.To maximise use of web 2.0 technologies individuals should be able to manipulate all the functions offered by their their technology gadgets.
